The exporters are also keen on sustainable development. This is evident from the rehabilitation of mines carried out by many mine owners on the exhaustion of the ore deposit. Plantations are also seen at mining sites. Besides, various projects are being undertaken for environmental management.

The mining companies also understand the need to conserve water. Eighty percent of the water is recycled and reutilized with the aid of indigenous technology.

The exporters have also promoted the Mineral foundation of Goa . This body has been setup to substantiate work on environmental and socio-economical development of the mining belt in Goa.

The GMOEA's Standing Committees, i.e. “Mining” and the “Environmental Monitoring Committee,” advise and provide necessary support on related matters to its members.
